This will qualify you for the 200 hours Yoga Alliance Training Certificate. This concentrates mainly on teaching Asana skills. After qualifying you may continue your training to be awarded the 500 hour certificate. This includes all the eight limbs of Yoga, including Pranayama, meditation and practical philosophy.

Here is the training program and syllabus outline for our Karuna Yoga Teaching Diploma Certificate. Each candidate has an attendance card, which they present or hand in at the end of each module. The course consists of 3 modules.
As a student, you will need to:
establish a daily practice
continue with your weekly local class
go to a second weekly class, either at the Yoga Centre with Ruth or a local class
do practical homework/reading as given in your newsletter
attend 7 days of residentials for each module
complete the coursework necessary for that particular module (see syllabus)
at some point during the three modules, you will be required to complete a first aid course (these are held on our weekends, usually once a year)
Forthcoming events, practice tips and bits of inspiration are announced in the regular teacher training newsletter. There are residential weekends, days and a week yoga retreat in the Greek Isle of Lesbos.
Sometimes guest speakers give talks at our residencies and days and students take an active part at these lectures, which are followed with questions and answers.
Pranayama can be practised in or after savasana and before breakfast on the residentials. Meditation is practised during residentials and days sometimes after savasana
1st Module
Students will be given the whole syllabus.
Students are required to:
establish a daily practice, this is the 1st and most important requisite
obtain the 6 set books for study during the course (Ruth will have your books at the initial assessment (list attached)
attend talks given on Anatomy & Physiology
submit the Anatomy Questionnaire
familiarise themselves with the Sanskrit names
attend talks on Mudras and Bandhas
practise deep breathing 10 minutes a day (if not practising Pranayama)
continue a daily yoga practise
take out insurance - see below
2nd Module
Students are required to:
practise teaching and correcting students
begin to work towards the ‘A’ advanced postures
teaching Assessment & Personal Assessment including Ujjayi, Pranayama
Personal Assessment (Students are not assessed “A” advanced asanas until Module 3)
complete and submit the Professional Teaching Paper
continue to learn Sanskrit names, practise Pranayama & begin Ujjayi breathing
attend talks to include Kriyas
practice Bhastrika and Alternate Nasal breathing
3rd Module
Students are required to:
answer the Postures Questionnaire
attend talks to include Kriyas
practise the ‘A’ advanced postures (aids to be used if necessary)
be assessed in their Teaching & Personal ability for final certification
3rd Module practical assessments are taken by senior qualified teachers: Ruth moderates. A maximum of 5 trainee students can take their assessment at any one time.
This is a practical course that lifts the heart and spirit. It is a natural progression that when you love your yoga so much, your love overflows and you want to share it with others.
The buffet brunch after yoga offers a great variety of delicious and healthy food for all tastes, from English breakfast to an assortment of vegetarian dishes. The evening meal is not included in the package.
The hotel offers an excellent 3-course buffet dinner for additional cost for guests who would like to dine in. There are also many local tavernas offering delicious daily caught fish.

To reserve, a security deposit of 25% of the total price is required. The security deposit is non-refundable if you cancel your reservation. The remainder of the payment is due 30 days prior to your arrival.
