A traditional Ayurvedic massage takes a more holistic approach, focusing as much on targeting emotional and energetical imbalance as it does physical. Ayurveda is a system of alternative medicine developed in India 3000 years ago, and it's philosophical core is comprised of five fundamental universal elements: space, air, fire, water and earth, from which the 3 ''doshas'' Vata, Pitta and Kapha are derived. The 3 doshas are dynamic energies that constantly change and shift in response to our actions, thoughts, emotions, food we eat, seasons etc.

Ayurvedic massages borrow from the principles of Ayurveda to achieve relaxation, stress relief, release of excessive fluids and water retention from the body as it can activate the lymphatic system in order to to it's natural drainage process, as well as overcoming emotional blockages.
Certain energy points, the so called ''marmas'' used for healing in Ayurvedic medicine are being triggered and manipulated to manually adjust the energy in the body so the receiver can feel maximally relaxed. In an Ayurvedic treatment a generous amount of properly heated oil blends suitable for the receiver's ''dosha'' are being used, containing herbs and extracts with therapeutic properties. Those oils are maximizing the sensory experience either for grounding, uplifting, restoring of imbalanced energy, bringing harmony and equilibrium.
