Santani is the first and only purpose-built wellness resort offering luxury escapes in Sri Lanka, designed according to the highest sustainability and eco-standards. We spent more than two years searching for this pristine location because we understood humans heal and thrive most effectively where nature meets intelligent, sustainable design. The resort provides guests with an escape beyond compare in Sri Lanka.
This 116-acre former tea plantation within a pristine forest has allowed us to create a restorative destination spa, which is completely accessible yet blissfully secluded. Our rooms are built for natural ventilation and are air-condition free – far healthier for you, and better for the environment because this saves over 70% of energy compared to an air-conditioned hotel.
Each person is unique so we customise every restorative programme around that individuality, based upon a scientifically developed questionnaire to determine the wellness components right for you, so that you are able to have a unique luxury escape. Our only strict ‘rule’ is that children must be at least 12 years of age to accompany their parents at Santani. We thank you for understanding.
Created by and for successful, worldly professionals, Santani is about seeking and finding inspiration, knowledge and encouragement to balance external demands with inner fulfilment. Offering effective, meaningful wellness without artifice, Santani has a pure and simple purpose; to help you get unstuck.

Regular cleansing of the body is core preventative care that will help avert the occurrence of many diseases such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular issues, degenerative changes etc.
Santani Detox programmes can be customized to different needs and durations starting from 5 days to 21 days. These can differ from a basic introduction to detox to an advanced detox for guests who are more accustomed to detox and cleansing. The programme can be customized based on Ayurvedic techniques or Western techniques such as juicing.
Harmonizing health science innovations from around the world with thousands of years of Sri Lankan Vedic philosophies and practices, Santani offers a thoughtful, sustainable approach to wellness, that we like to call Wellness 2.0, which forms the basis for everything we do here.
No two people are alike, and at Santani every programme is tailor-made just for you. And beyond the plethora of healthy indulgences for the mind, body and spirit at Santani, our success rests upon the mindfulness we impart so that you may thrive in every aspect of your life back home. Come to Santani and immerse yourself in a wellness experience to last a lifetime.
You enter on the ground level to our reception and consultation rooms, then descend as if becoming one with the earth as you enter the hydrotherapy level. To warm up your body before treatment, this level houses a steam room, the cedar wood sauna with its glass wall looking onto emerald paddy fields all the way to the Knuckles mountain range, and our open-air thermal salt soak pool. Deeper into nature, the lowest level divides into four treatment rooms all of which are open onto the surrounding paddy fields. One of these rooms is designed for couples.
Named for the Sanskrit word meaning “in harmony with,” Santani realises the sincere belief that sustainable wellness begins by bringing oneself into balance with nature and by allowing ourselves to receive
nurture from ourselves as well as from others.
That harmony guides everything we do here. Within one of the world’s lushest environments, the holistic architecture treads as lightly as possible upon the land to let nature’s rhythms lull you back to life. Our wellness programmes in Ayurveda, detox, yoga and spa combine on site pampering and rejuvenation with enlightened learning for healthy living long after you leave these naturally rejuvenating surroundings placing us among the best luxury ayurveda resorts in Sri Lanka.
We chose to design our contemporary dwellings based on the concept of the ‘ambalama’, which is the Sri Lankan word meaning ‘place of rest.’ Historically, pilgrims and traders moved around this sun-kissed island on foot. Simple shelters called ambalama came into being, offering these travellers somewhere safe to rest up for the next leg of a long journey. This human need to rest has not changed; today’s travellers too are in need of a place to rest up, along the journey of life.
Stylish and utterly comfortable, our interiors too are deliberately minimal. As in ancient Buddhist meditation caves in the mountains surrounding Santani, this lack of distraction allows you to focus your mind solely on slowing it down.
To further support your efforts to ‘reset,’ our rooms do not have televisions. While digital detox is a key component of the Santani experience, we do offer in-room WiFi on demand.
By blurring the distinction between inside and out, these private retreats invite you to rest, relax or meditate while inhaling the pure fresh air and taking in the pristine, truly inspiring scenery around you.
We have 16 Mountain View Chalets that overlook the surrounding mountain range.

‘Rasa’ is the Sanskrit word for taste, essence or flavor, a sensation perceived by the gustatory system. Taste is the very first impression formed over the tongue ‘Rasendriya’, when eating or drinking it plays the most important role in satiating one’s palate. Ayurveda describes six types of tastes (Rasas); sweet (Madhura), sour (Amla), salt (Lavana), pungent (Katu), bitter (Tikta) and astringent (Kashya). We need all 6 to be healthy and consumed in the correct order for it to be effective. Every meal at Santani is created with this philosophy in mind, so that every guest is left truly satiated after every meal.
