This program is specifically designed for Yoga Teachers (RYT-200 required), mental health professionals, or professionals working in any of the aforementioned fields who wish to broaden their scope of knowledge in the field of Trauma Recovery and integrate nervous system-focused embodiment practices into their work. This training is for professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of how trauma affects the brain and the nervous system, as well as how to increase awareness and sensitivity when working with trauma survivors.
Trainees will learn how trauma lives in the body and the incredible healing potential available through embodiment practices. We will demonstrate how to teach a trauma-informed titration style practice. We will also share practical tools of how to bring somatic awareness into your current approach to talk therapy or other clinical therapeutic modalities. *Please note that some yoga experience is recommended even if you are not a Yoga Teacher.

This yoga teacher training is a holistic program; to understand yoga, one must first understand their body, mind, and spirit. The four directions of the Native American medicine wheel will be used as a guide and foundational structure for the course. Within each direction, the course will focus on different types of movement, diet, and meditation. SYI brings to life the ancient teachings of yoga through accessible spiritual lessons, a solid foundation in yogic philosophy, and a daily yoga practice.
During this yoga teacher training in Peru, you will share the teachings of yoga applied to daily living, connect through provoking cosmic wisdom, and learn shamanic healing practices of the Andes. There will be personal retreat days of silence and fasting, allowing for a deep integration of course offerings. There is a strong Bhakti component in this training, as your guides bring you into the daily experience of bliss, devotion, and self-realization through mantras, songs, and chanting.
Highlights-
The meals are nourishing simple fare, created with emphasis on local organic ingredients. Breakfast consists of fruit, oatmeal, and bread; occasional eggs or cheese will be offered for non-vegans. Lunch and dinners vary, the constant being creative, inspired deliciousness with excellent green salads and occasional raw desserts. Hot tea from freshly grown onsite mint and munya, as well as chamomile and anise and purified water is always on hand.
