This retreat is run only by local people in a traditional Balinese village away from other tourists. It is the perfect place for you to get away from the busy tourist parts of Bali to unwind, recharge, and rejuvenate your body, mind, and soul.
Most importantly, this retreat is about you. It’s about taking time for yourself to observe yourself, understand yourself, reconnect with yourself, and love yourself in a kinder way.
Take this incredible journey for yourself, and come to help Balitrees Retreats spread the love for Traditional Balinese Watu Karu Yoga, share ancient Balinese wisdom, and support the local community!
Traditional Balinese Watu Karu Yoga is one of the oldest yoga practices in the world. It is said that thousands of years ago, 13 yogis from India (each practicing their own style of yoga) came to Bali to practice on the top of Mount Batukaru, also known as Batukaru Mountain.
The spiritual energy of Bali (the Island of the Gods) inspired the 13 yogis, who took the best of their own yoga practices and created Balinese Yoga. They gave it the name Balinese Watu Karu Yoga to pay tribute to the beautiful mountain they practiced together.
Beauty, grace, spirituality, and strength are some of the stunning features of traditional Balinese Watukaru Yoga. It focuses on the mind and one's spiritual awakening, hence emphasizing meditation and the inner flow of energy in its practice.
Held by traditional Balinese Watu Karu Yoga practitioners who believe that without meditation and chanting, yoga is just an exercise/sport and the physical practice of yoga is the preparation for meditation, which helps you to silence your mind and heal your body.
During this retreat, you will have access to one of the oldest spiritual ashrams in the world, Pasraman Seruling Dewata, which still conserves all of the original 13 styles of Yoga exactly as they were created thousands of years ago in the Himalayas.
