Sasan Gir is the last remaining home of a unique predator, the Asiatic Lion, once almost extinct, and the only remaining social, big cat species of India. However, a journey into this forest will reveal so much more. There is a healthy leopard population as well as the more elusive jungle cat, striped hyena, golden jackal, Bengal fox and the infamous honey badger. The great birdman himself, Salim Ali, also declared the park with over 300 species, wonderful for birding.
Together with our head naturalist, we have created our Woods Wildlife Expeditions, journeys, which take in not just the lions, but the nature of the destination, its birds, the folklore and its people. Choose a journey that will fulfil your requirements or contact us to create your own itinerary.
