More Details

Let the yoga instructors bring your body and mind to ultimate relaxation with OM Studio yoga class, Hatha yoga, Ashtanga yoga, and Yin yoga classes. Guests at Stay Phuket Resort and outside guests will have access to the yoga classes daily; morning and afternoon (excluding Sunday). Yoga classes suitable for all levels, from beginners and yoga enthusiasts, to improve techniques and to understand the basics of yoga. Stay FIT's brand new yoga studio, “OM Studio” is located above the lobby area of Stay Wellbeing & Lifestyle Resort.

Hatha yoga

The term is derived from the Sanskrit ha, meaning “sun” and tha, meaning “moon”, leading to the common interpretation that Hatha practices are designed to unite and balance these two energies. In this class, postures are practiced to align, strengthen, and promote flexibility in the body. Breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. You can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement. Full-body relaxation and balance are the goals, as you make a full circuit of the body's range of motion with standing postures, twists, backbends, forward folds, and hip openers.

Ashtanga yoga

Intended to be a daily practice, this powerful, healing exercise is made up of a specific sequence of postures (asanas) unifying both breath (pranayama), and movement (Vinyasa). Ashtanga is a style of yoga that combines strength, flexibility, and stamina as a complete routine. This Ashtanga yoga is different from many yoga classes in the west where the order of asanas is completely predefined. A practice will comprise four main parts: an “opening sequence” one of the six main “series”, a back-bending sequence, and a set of inverted asanas, referred to as the “finishing sequence”.

The opening sequence begins with 10 sun salutations, followed by several standing asanas. On the other hand, your session will always end with savasana. Finally, the practitioner will do one of the six main series, referred to as the Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa), Intermediate Series (Nadi Shodhana), or Advanced A, B, C, or D (Sthira Bhaga) Series level.

Yin yoga

Yin yoga works deeply into your body with passive, longer-held poses. Yin yoga targets the deepest tissues of the body, your connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body – rather than the muscles (which are the physical focus of Yang yoga practices). Energetically, Yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. To be healthy, you need healthy organs as well as healthy muscles. Yin yoga also offers wonderful emotional and mental health benefits.

Vinyasa yoga

Vinyasa yoga is one of the most popular styles of yoga practiced in Western yoga studios today. A Vinyasa yoga practice connects individual poses or “asanas” with deep breaths or “pranayama” in a series of flowing sequences of movement.

Designed to progressively open the body, each sequence in a Vinyasa yoga class builds upon the previous, evolving into deeper, more advanced postures as the practice unfolds. Resetting “Vinyasas,” are a standard series of poses that transition the yogi back to their home base pose: Downward Facing Dog. The entire practice culminates with a deep sense of mindfulness, self-connection, and ease.

Typical components of a Vinyasa yoga class include a range of standing, seated and supine poses, twists, balancing postures, forward folds, inversions, backbends and targeted core strengthening. Some classes might offer guided meditation, chanting, or breathwork, and all classes end in a state of utter relaxation in Corpse Pose or “Savasana”.

Vinyasa yoga can be practiced at any level, tempo or temperature based on individual preferences. Yogis can expect to experience increased flexibility, strength, stability, and overall calmness and clarity.
