Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a dynamic yoga, developed in the 1960s in Mysore, India by Pattabhi Jois, a disciple of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, considered the father of modern postural yoga.
Ashtanga is structured in sequences of postures that unfold in a precise and progressive order in coordination with breathing. The alternation between the stability of the asanas and the fluidity of the vinyasa movement make this practice an invitation to travel in the cycles of the cosmos between inspiration and expiration. Ashtanga promotes anchoring, power and relaxation by unifying body and mind in an unlimited space-time. Teaching in Mysore Style is the original and traditional way of teaching Ashtanga yoga, where everyone practices at their own pace in the energy of the group, with their own pulsation, accompanied in their evolution by adapted adjustments.
Sadhana, or ritualized practice, brings joy and develops interiority, autonomy and self-awareness.
Yin yoga is a static yoga that is performed to musical background and offers a succession of postures (usually on the floor) each held for about 5 minutes. Deep work takes place on the body, breath and mind. It is an invitation to stop time, to be in the moment, a practice of presence, patience and letting go.
Ashtanga beginners are welcome (adaptations will be offered depending on your physical condition). However, a previous practice of yoga, whatever the style, is desired.
Please contact the teacher before registering to discuss your physical condition and your practice.
