Students who complete the training can register with Yoga Alliance as Certified Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
You will have a daily yoga practice at the beginning of the day, while following the rhythm of the sun. After brunch, you will have time to rest before continuing your awareness. The Yogaji program can be found on the Yoga Alliance page under Durga-Ji yoga. Yogaji follows the Yoga Alliance standard and enriches it with its experience.
The teaching is traditional and intense. You will experience a dynamic teaching and strongly connected to the source of yoga. This means that unlike most trendy and commercial schools, you will do a lot of pranayama and mantra. The teaching is spiritual but absolutely down to earth. You will examine traditional texts such as the Yoga Sutras, the Upanishads, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. You are encouraged to read as soon as possible to prepare yourself for all yoga.
During the training you will be encouraged to read the four classic texts of hatha yoga. You will be given rest days and time to read them. These texts are Gheranda Samhita, the Yoga Upanishads, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
At the end of the week, you will take a written exam that will test your knowledge of teaching and is a prerequisite for certification.
Yogaji requires his students to have one year of prior regular yoga teaching in a center. Students are also required to read the following books: Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita and some Upanishads.
Yogaji invites you to cook daily when you are in the food seva. They change the seva regularly so that everyone has the chance to feed his friend one day. The meals are always vegetarian (which implies no animal). Upon request, it can be exclusively vegan or gluten-free if you have some specific diet. The food is always great, tasty, and lovely. Thanks to their past experience they include more vegetables, and some snacks (fruits, and nuts) and let the menu be a shared plan every time the request is manageable.
