The word Vipassana means ‘To see things as they are’ and is an ancient Buddhist practice that was founded by Gautam Buddha more than 2500 years ago. It is process that purifies the mind through observation of one’s own thoughts and identifying the deep rooted reasons that cause stress in our lives. Over the years this practice spread to surrounding countries and subsequently to other parts of the world. However, Vipassana was rediscovered in India by S.N. Goenka after he learned this technique from Burmese Vipassana teacher, Sayagyi U Ba Khin. S. N.
